The Glendale Chapter of the Golden State Harley Group (HOGS) held a poker run on September 8th to celebrate their 25th anniversary to help support the Wildlife Waystation.

Emily and Oliver from Glendale Harley, kindly donated not only the place to have this event but also gift cards to add to the 25 raffle items donated by DirecTV, Grand Canyon Whitewater Tours, The Dodgers, Disney, Warner Bros, SeaWorld, The Magic Castle, Rocks and Ruins, Ronald Regan Library, Newport Landing, Priscilla’s Coffee and BJ’s in Burbank. We would also like to thank the following Waystation volunteers for items donated for this event Dave Welling, Joe Davala, Dee Westlund , Adrian Wheeler, Kat Campbell, and Martine Colette who donated a cocktail party.

Kathi Edwards one of the HOGS made 5 beautiful gift baskets and her friend Helen donated two lovely Thomas Kinkaid paintings

There were about 200 riders and the music was fantastic, the MC, Jim Babcock was as always hysterical and the Waystation made close to $5000 for the animals.

We would like to send a big thank you to everyone who helped and to the volunteers who worked so hard during the event.

Watermelon Season Has Arrived! The Wildlife Waystation was pleased to attend the Sunland-Tujunga Lions Club Watermelon Festival at Sunland Park. It was the Wildlife Waystation's second year attending this local event and we can't wait to go back next year. The event spanned over three days from Friday, August 10 to Sunday, August 12. The Wildlife Waystation attended on Saturday and Sunday and brought many of their animal ambassadors.

The Watermelon Festival features live musical entertainment, carnival rides and games, marketplace vendors, community organization booths, and best of all - FREE WATERMELON! Though it was a very very hot weekend, all of the people who attended were great.

Over the span of two days, the Wildlife Waystation showcased animal stars Tequila and ChiCha the Llamas, Ebu the Great Horned Owl, a couple of snakes, Bogard the Tegu, Brutus & Kiki the Ferrets, Drago the Veiled Chameleon, Houdini the Cockatoo and Pogo the Opossum. All of the festival attendees seemed to get a kick out of our animals behaviors and asked some great questions. Not to mention the stories people have about their experiences with Owls, Snakes, and Opossums!
